Your Zone Friday: Tighten your belts
Things we’ve done and things we like this week
Our wallets are feeling mighty slim, and it's still a week until payday. Before we resort to eating our own shoes, we'll be applying some clever austerity measures. Naturally, there's no scrimping when it comes to content, though. From cooking videos and football chat, to an insightful feature by our editorial director, here's the week at Zone.
Three things we've done

Gone homemade
Put that menu down and step away from the phone, there's no need to spend your money on a takeaway. Dish up a feast with the help of 4Food's how to stir-fry video and Chinese recipes instead. Happy Chinese New Year!

Felt lucky
Former Arsenal player and Zone employee, Adrian Clarke, speculated on this Sunday's Arsenal v Man Utd match for Life's A Pitch. We're letting him pick our lottery numbers.

Given expert advice
Our editorial director Matt Simpson's worked his magic this week with an insightful feature on branded content in Brand Republic.

Zone hero of the week
Lauren Bravo, senior writer in our Channel 4 Food team, is saving her pennies for a good cause by doing the London MoonWalk - that's a half marathon to you and me.
Lauren says: "Walking 13 miles might not sound too hard, but as someone who's been known to catch the bus one stop from Euston station to the office [a five-minute walk], I'm anticipating a challenge..." Show your support here.

Geek of the Week speaks
Our tech team are on a mission to shed their nerdy reputation. We chart their progress…
Junior developer Lydia Nicholas turned 25 on Wednesday and celebrated with a pretty pavlova. She says she's excited to be at her geek peak. How long does one of those last we wonder?

‘I made this’
Zone staff share their creative moments. This week:
After meeting the Fabulous Baker Brothers last week, Channel 4 Food's deputy editor, Celia Plender, was inspired to try out their soda bread recipe - tasty it was too.

NEWSFLASH!
This month, our Coca-Cola team has been doing a poll on New Year's resolutions. Can you guess what the most popular one is? So far, regular exercise is on top - dust off the trainers. Put your two pence worth in.

Three things we like

Decorators Art installation
If you can't afford to get the decorators in, then get the kids involved instead. It's amazing what they can do with an empty room and a few thousand stickers.

Hot spots Foursquare Explore
We'll be hunting out the best cheap eats in the Camden area, thanks to Foursquare's handy new feature.
