Mum’s little helpers

Social Media Week event: Ask Don’t Tell – Talking With Families Online, hosted by Digital Outlook
The Coca-Cola website may be six months old, but we’re as passionate now as we were on day one about understanding and meeting the needs of our target audience. Which is why we made a beeline for the Ask Don’t Tell event during London’s recent Social Media Week (it wasn’t just the free cupcakes – honest).
Boasting an expert line-up, including Jennifer Howze, co-founder of CyberMummy the British blogging conference, and Siobhan Freegard, managing director of Netmums, there was lively discussion around the role of male parents online (to exclusively research the car seat, apparently), the relationship between parents and children on Facebook (stay cool in your kids’ eyes by engaging through the likes of Farmville) and the dos and don’ts of approaching mummy bloggers (simple = sticky, according to Jennifer).
Ultimately the panel agreed: Don’t waste Mum’s time when she’s trying to juggle a million things at once, take both good and bad feedback on board and be honest – to earn the respect of this increasingly powerful audience.
