The Zone office was so impressed by the number of old ladies getting into the spirit of Movember that some of us have decided to grow moustaches of our own. Here’s what else has been happening this week...

Three things we've done

Learnt to make PROPER chips

The famous “Daddy or chips?” conundrum has now reached its natural conclusion thanks to our Channel 4Food team publishing a recipe for the greatest chips you will ever eat. Sorry Daddy, you’re officially chucked.

Given the gift of giving

Our Coca-Cola team scoured Ireland high and low, before donating 125,000 euros to 15 incredibly worthwhile projects and initiatives. Find out who they are.

Spoken to some tough guys

BT Vision senior writer and self-proclaimed award-winning journalist Mark Sylvester puffed out his chest, attempted to tear his top off, then casually got on the phone to mixed martial arts hard men Mark Munoz and Chris Leben. “They were so lovely,” whispered Mark to himself, moments after the interview.

This week’s data makeover

Of course not everyone can grow a moustache for one reason or another, but that shouldn't stop you from dreaming. Here the Zone staff, regardless of gender or facial situation, select their favourite style of furry slugs.

Zone hero of the week

With the office eternally fuelled by hot coffee, it was a cruel blow to the solar plexus earlier in the week when the snazzy cappuccino machine in the kitchen seemingly chugged its last chug. Then in strode senior developer Dom da Costa with just a toolbox, a wink, and the determined thumping heart of a Springbok. Minutes later, frothy milk moustaches all round!

This month good-natured and hirsute Zoners are growing facial hair for charity. We chart their progress…

There isn’t a man alive who couldn’t be improved with the simple addition of a sculpted line of bristle framing his upper lip. So if you thought the Zone team were hot already, prepare to go absolutely wild. Dom, the Domettes, and some other chums will be going in pursuit of the hirsute, all for a good cause, and each week we'll shine some harsh light on a likely face. This week we comb through Relentless editor Ben Gomori's budding bristle.

Zone staff share their creative moments

At the Relentless Energy Drink Freeze Festival 2011, Zone's head of design Rich Dean used Star Trek-type tech skills to turn a URL into a stylish poster packed with (QR) code, allowing more than 200 people to scan it and win cans of Relentless or exclusive VIP afterparty passes. More than 18,000 made it through the gates on Saturday alone, and you can check out the fun here.
