We Zoners do like to do our bit for charity, so when we heard about the tsunami in Japan, we knew there was only one thing for it – a bake sale to raise money for the Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal.
The fabulous 4Food & delicious. teams provided inspiration in the form of scrumptious baking recipes and the Zone staffers, along with other amazing and lovely volunteers from within the Eversholt complex, pulled together to create many a masterpiece to sell within our own fair hamlet – and to the keen people on the street outside our gates.
We had volunteers aplenty not only to bake, but also to provide locations for the sale – a big thank you to the wonderful June from the Red Cross at number 163 and to the lovely Jonny from Elixir Bar for providing two unique locations to sell the mountains of cakes we lovingly produced by hand (and some bought in stores but that doesn’t mean they didn’t taste as good).
All in all, the day was a success, we made new friends, we ate delicious cakes and, most importantly, we raised £574.85, just from a few eggs and a bit of flour.
A big thank you to everyone involved.
